May is Bike Month!

I love bike month! There are so many awesome activities to join throughout the whole Sacramento area. Check out the "Million Miles May" events on the following link. For those who register, there are random prize drawings. You can enter miles from biking around town, to work, to church, exercising... anytime you're on your bike. Go to the linked website and register under "Davis LDS Relief Society 2nd Ward" (apparently someone registered the ward in past years because it was already an option) :) And mark your calendars-- on May 20th from 6:30- 9:30am at the Farmers Market, the Bike to Work Breakfast is going on and for those of us that have signed up, you get a free T-shirt.

BIG NEWS

Yes, the rumors are true! Jared and I are adopting a brand new baby boy in just 5 weeks and we are so stinkin excited! The birth mom is super awesome, and we'll be going down to southern CA on conference weekend for our little guy's big entrance into the world. His due date is April 6th, and we're probably going to be on cloud 9 for awhile. We're aware that our naiveness might be irritating at times, but please just let us ride this happiness train as long as we can. It's been a long time coming, and all though the days of sleeplessness and poopy diapers are upon us, we are so excited because when that kid screams, we'll know it's ours. When those diapers are poopy we'll know they came from our kid and not someone else's. And THAT people... that is good to know. We're going to name him Lukas Daniel, and will get to go to the temple to be sealed 6 months after he's home. We know many of you have been praying for us and we are forever grateful for that. We love this ward and have felt blessed to get to know you. I'm ecstatic!

Looking for boxes

Hi there!

I am looking for cardboard boxes of all shapes/sizes. We have the opportunity to move in May (still here in Davis) and I'm starting to pack up non-essentials. If you have some, see some in your dumpster area, find a listing on Craigs List...I would love a heads up so I can go get them :D

Cheap Produce

I was introduced to Pedricks Market my first week in Davis by a RS sister (thanks JoLynn) and have since realized that many of you don't know about this amazing place where you can buy a bag of almost 10 red bell peppers for about 3.50, and get lots of fresh local produce cheap. Local honey (which if you have allergies, it's good to eat honey from the local honey, because the local pollen in used, so it's supposed to help ya fight off those allergies)

To get there, get on 80 west, and get off at Pedricks ROad. It's right off the freeway next to the gas station. You can also take a back way that passes lots of farm land and tractors :) If you want an adventure, call me (Jess) and I'll take you.

Dresser drawers

Potluck at the Bishop's

That was so much fun...I think my kids had the best time, especially after they realized they had free access to desserts :) Thanks Sister Gubler!!!! Hope your house survived!!!

For those of you willing I would LOVE to have some of the recipes that people brought tonight!!! There were some fabulous ones!! Either post it or leave your recipe as a comment...yum!!

I'll start it off...devils food cake box, follow the instructions, spoon it into mini muffin pans, pray they finish baking before you need to leave for church, let the kids help frost them with the new cake decorating thingy my mommy got me for Christmas and cross your fingers the kids actually get the plates all the way into the Bishop's house without dropping them :) Enjoy!! (You're welcome to borrow my mini muffin pan!!)

Ohh, actually before I realized there could possibly be shortage of desserts (AAHHHH!!!) I had planned to make bean dip...nothing special but we like to take a 9x13 pan, cover the bottom with a can of refried beans, spread some sour cream and guacamole on top, sprinkle with cheese, chopped tomatoes and olives and eat with tortilla chips. Yum. Enjoy!

Winter Coat

I have a light purple "Blue's Clues" winter jacket if anyone wants it. It should fit 12mos-2 years. It has plenty of life left, no rips/ tears. It is reversible with fleece inside. Could stand to be washed. Let me know if you or someone you know wants it. :) Dawn Cheney
